Joann Askoff

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2026

Our World Harvest Church family is mourning the loss of a remarkable woman of faith and a beloved part of this ministry. This past Friday, October 2, 2026, Joann Askoff—known with great affection to generations of our church and Valor Christian College family simply as “Mrs. A”—went home to be with the Lord.

This is a very personal loss for the Parsley and Askoff families: Mrs. A was the mother of Joni Parsley and her sisters Julie and Jennifer.

Mrs. A’s love for World Harvest began when our church was still worshiping in the 180-seat tabernacle. She and her husband of 63 years, Oscar, became part of the very fabric of this house. Oscar was a faithful and familiar presence as our head usher, and together they served this ministry with extraordinary devotion for decades.

Throughout those years, Mrs. A served on our staff, invested deeply in the women of our church through Women’s Ministry, cared personally for countless members of our congregation, and faithfully filled more roles than could easily be recounted. Wherever there were people to serve, encourage, pray for, or care for, Mrs. A was never far away.

One of the most significant chapters of her service came through Valor Christian College, then known as World Harvest Bible College. When Jude Hall and Cunningham Hall were built in 1994, Mrs. A became the College’s first Student Housing Director and later moved into a broader leadership role within the College’s administration.

Generations of students came under her influence. She cared for them, prayed for them, encouraged them, corrected them when they needed it, and loved them. Today, pastors, pastors’ wives, ministers, and Christian leaders serving across this nation and around the world still know and remember her simply as “Mrs. A.”

Her legacy of faith and service lives on through her three daughters, Julie, Joni, and Jennifer; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the countless lives she touched throughout more than four decades as part of the World Harvest family.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. A will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Oscar, following a private family service.

We ask our entire church family to keep Miss Joni, Julie, Jennifer, Ashton, Austin, and the entire Askoff family in prayer in the days ahead.

We will miss Mrs. A deeply, but we rejoice in the assurance of where she is today. She loved Jesus. She loved her family. And she loved this church. She served each faithfully, and we thank God for the extraordinary privilege of having Mrs. A as part of the World Harvest Church family and ministry for so many years.
